About Our Teaching Artist:
Andres has been a traveler his whole life, always searching for the story, the adventure and capturing that with visual art. He has been a painter for many years at his current residence at the WAV (The Working Artists of Ventura) artist studio lofts in Ventura, CA. After formal art training in Fresno and Santa Barbara, CA, he began his career working in the graphic novel industry working as an artist assistant for Howard Chaykin. Following that he published a number of graphic novels and children’s books. Using those skills of draftsmanship and illustration, he incorporates that into his fine art painting. Continuing the theme of finding stories, he has written and directed some short films as well as the feature documentary Small Town Quirky. He has given many presentations on art at conferences, has a YouTube channel about visual mediums The Art of Comics and teaches art and visual language at some of the art associations and school district in Ventura County.
