Free Family Day: Día de los Muertos

Guests of all ages are invited to celebrate Día de los Muertos at three locations in downtown Santa Paula on Sunday, November 1, 2026! This free, family-friendly community celebration at the Santa Paula Art Museum, Pierce Brothers Santa Paula Cemetery, and the Museum of Ventura County’s Agriculture Museum offers traditional craft-making activities, music, altar installations, face painting, and more. Día de los Muertos attire is encouraged. Admission and activities are free for everyone.

Visitors can begin at any of the three locations and proceed to the others. Pick up an event passport at any site and have it stamped at all three locations to be entered to win a raffle prize. Free parking is available at the Santa Paula Art Museum, Pierce Brothers Santa Paula Cemetery, and the Museum of Ventura County’s Agriculture Museum. Hours and activities vary by location. Día de los Muertos activities from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Guests of all ages are invited to create Día de los Muertos crafts, including nichos, macramé calacas, and more. Visitors can also enjoy free face painting and special Día de los Muertos art installations. Families are invited to explore the Museum’s current exhibitions, including De Colores, featuring Latino artists from the Museum’s permanent collection.

Pierce Brothers Santa Paula Cemetery is celebrating Día de los Muertos with a day of festivities for family and friends. Build an ofrenda on a loved one’s grave or contribute to the community ofrenda. Enjoy face painting, sugar skull decorating, arts and crafts, vendors, and mariachi music.

Catholic Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m., followed by a blessing of the graves led by Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish. Folklórico dancers will perform at 2:00 p.m., followed by Aztec dancers at 3:00 p.m.

Join us at the Agriculture Museum for a Día de los Muertos celebration honoring loved ones. Enjoy an afternoon of hands-on activities, including sugar skull decorating, face painting, paper marigold making, papel picado crafts, and altar decorating with Poder Popular. Visitors can also connect with local vendors and community resources. At 12:30 p.m., enjoy a special presentation exploring the history and traditions of Día de los Muertos.
