Oil Painting Demonstration: Gabriel Islas

In conjunction with the current exhibition "Plein Air Visions” presented by the California Art Club, CAC artist member (and Santa Paula Art Museum Curator of Creativity!) Gabriel Islas will demonstrate his landscape oil painting process inside the Museum on Saturday, July 26, 2025. The demo will begin at 2 PM and guests will be able to observe and chat with Islas as he paints. The demonstration is included with regular museum admission, which is $4 for adults, $3 for seniors, and free for SPAM members, students, and children. Reservations are not required.

More About Gabriel Islas:

An Oxnard native, Gabriel Islas obtained his BFA with an emphasis in painting from Academy of Art University, San Francisco. Gabriel has a studio in midtown Ventura at Pacific & Main and leads the education department at the Santa Paula Art Museum’s Cole Creativity Center. He exhibits atmospheric landscape paintings, teaches fine art, and frequently paints outdoors in an effort to capture the fleeting moments of America's National Parks, local landscapes, and illuminated scenes at night. Gabriel has a YouTube channel with collaborative time-lapse videos supported by original music, and is a member of the California Art Club, Buenaventura Art Association, Last Place Art Club, and Studio Channel Islands. Gabriel was recently awarded Best Landscape in the California Art Club’s 2025 Gold Medal Exhibition.
