On Saturday, September 8, 2018, printmaker and painter Gail Hercher, M.F.A., will be telling us all about gelatin monoprints, a relatively new printmaking method which does not require a printing press. As a printmaker, Hercher focuses primarily on gelatin monoprinting because it is an expressive medium that uses a handmade gelatin plate with colorful non-toxic inks and is printed by hand. This makes it a spontaneous, joyous, and inexpensive printmaking experience for both beginner and advanced printmakers. Hercher has taught printmaking in museums, art centers and schools in New England, Hawaii, and Ojai, where she currently teaches at area schools and in her studio. Admission to the talk is $4 for adults, $3 for seniors, and free for students and members.
