Artist Biography
Born in 1873, Maud Perkins was a Southern California landscape painter known for her work in oils and watercolors. A longtime resident of Santa Ana, she exhibited her paintings in Los Angeles, Laguna Beach, and other California art centers.
This painting was likely inspired by a three-month camping expedition that Perkins and her husband took to the High Sierra in 1926. Perkins lived in Santa Ana for nearly three decades and died there in 1935.
