One-Day Wheel Throwing Workshop - Saturday Afternoon

Explore the basics of wheel throwing in this one-day workshop with teaching artist Tara Weber. Students will get a feel for foundational wheel throwing techniques, and create their very own small bowls.
The workshop will be taught on Saturday, October 10, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
All work will be trimmed and glazed by the instructor. Please allow 4–5 weeks for your work to be completed. Our Kiln Tech, Jynell Dimalanta, will reach out via email to schedule your pickup.
This class is for ages 16 and over. The cost of this workshop is $80 per person. All skill levels are welcome and all materials are provided. Preregistration is required and space is limited. The course will be held inside the Cole Creativity Center located at 123 N 10th St, Santa Paula, CA. Free parking is available directly behind the building and students may enter through the front or back door.

*Please note: Long nails can make working with clay frustrating. We recommend trimming your nails down before attending class. Clay is also very messy, so please dress in clothing you don’t mind getting stained and covered in clay. You are welcome to bring an apron and towel/rag for wiping your hands throughout the process. Long hair must be pulled back as a safety precaution.
About Our Teaching Artist:
ara Weber is a Ventura-based ceramic artist specializing in functional, wheel-thrown pottery. She first discovered clay at Ventura College, where she earned an Associate of Arts degree, before continuing her studies at San Francisco State University.
While living in the Bay Area, Weber worked at Heath Ceramics, where her experience with pottery production further inspired her own ceramic practice. After returning to Ventura, she established her own business selling handmade ceramics and offering private lessons. She continued her education with courses in business and ceramics at California State University Channel Islands and went on to teach at local art centers.
Today, Weber continues to create functional, wheel-thrown pottery designed for everyday use. As both an artist and educator, she draws inspiration from a diverse community of artists and remains committed to continually learning, experimenting, and growing in her craft.
