Create your very own hardcover watercolor sketchbook! This elegant book structure opens flat, making it ideal for watercolor painting, sketching, journaling, and field studies. Students will learn how to measure and fold watercolor paper, assemble the book block, construct a hardcover case, and bring all the components together into a finished artist’s book using the drum-leaf binding technique. Participants can personalize their books with a selection of decorative papers and book cloth.
No previous bookbinding experience is required. Each participant will leave with one completed, ready-to-use watercolor sketchbook and an understanding of foundational book-construction techniques.
This is a one day workshop that will be taught on Saturday, October 10, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
This class is for ages 16 and over. The cost of this workshop is $56 per person. All skill levels are welcome and all materials are provided. Preregistration is required and space is limited. The course will be held inside the Cole Creativity Center located at 123 N 10th St, Santa Paula, CA. About Our Teaching Artist:
Andi Meyer has been creating art for over 25 years. Her work consists primarily of 3D fiber artwork, such as spinning yarn, felting, crocheting, knitting, and weaving. Although she has received a BA in Art & Psychology and her MA in Education, her love for learning new techniques and skills has never faded away.
Student Testimonials:
““Everything was perfect as it was. Andi is a wonderful instructor. We had a great experience learning an art that was completely new to us.””
““I couldn’t have enjoyed the class more, and have already recommended it to friends. I look forward to doing more felting, and other classes, when they come up.””
““We had so much fun! Andi taught at perfect speed. She described and showed us each step, and then gave us time and space to do our own thing. She walked around to answer questions and keep us moving forward. I will definitely look for and take other classes from Andi!””
