Sculpt and paint your very own sugar skull at the Santa Paula Art Museum’s Cole Creativity Center! During Clay Sugar Skulls, young artists (ages 9+) will join teaching artist Lennin Bernal for a step-by-step art party inspired by Día de los Muertos. Students will sculpt their own clay sugar skull, then bring it to life with colorful painted details and designs.
This class is scheduled for Sunday, September 27, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.
The cost of class is $40.00 per person. Beginners are welcome and all materials are provided. Preregistration is required.

Youth Scholarships Available!
The Santa Paula Art Museum’s Cole Creativity Center offers financial assistance to qualifying students under the age of 18 whose families are enrolled in California’s EBT or WIC programs. Once eligibility is verified, you will receive a discount code to use towards enrollment. Financial assistance is limited and not guaranteed. Eligible families may use this scholarship for up to 6 classes (or up to 2 camps) per year.
Our scholarship program is made possible through the generosity of our donors, including the Cathy Barringer Memorial Scholarship Fund, the Kitty Botke Memorial Scholarship Fund, the Tina Lorch Memorial Scholarship Fund, and the Margo Miller Memorial Scholarship Fund.
About Our Teaching Artist:
South Oxnard-based artist Lennin Bernal honors his skills in painting, using a grayscale palette to blur the lines between memories and dreams, reality and abstraction, giving his work a timeless, poetic quality.
